Home & Garden / Buying guide

A little help choosing

Home & Garden.
Chosen around your everyday.

From cooking outdoors to choosing a scooter, start with how and where you will use it. Compare the practical details, suitability and care requirements before choosing.

Electric scooters

Choose around the rider and where it will be used.

Rider and model suitability

Check the exact model’s age, height and weight requirements, controls and maximum load. The range includes different rider requirements; do not assume every scooter is suitable for an adult or a child.

Private land and local rules

Privately owned e-scooters should only be used on private land with the landowner’s permission. They are not for use on public roads or pavements in Northern Ireland. Check current official guidance before buying for an intended route.

Battery, storage and transport

Compare dimensions, weight, folding details and charging requirements. Stated range depends on the manufacturer’s test conditions. Use the recommended charger, follow battery-care instructions and consider secure storage and protective equipment.

Outdoor grills & BBQs

Make room for good food outdoors.

Cooking space and accessories

Think about the number of people you usually cook for, the cooking area and whether you need a side burner or compatible griddle. Check accessories against the exact barbecue model.

Fuel and safe positioning

Check the required gas type, regulator and hose, and confirm what is supplied. Gas barbecues are for outdoor use. Follow the exact model’s instructions for ventilation, positioning and clearances; never use one indoors.

Measurements and care

Measure the space with shelves and lid open, and allow access around the barbecue. Check assembly requirements, cleaning instructions, weather protection and winter storage before choosing.

Drones & toys

Start with suitability and availability.

Current availability

This category currently has no listed products. Ask our team about availability before planning around a particular drone or toy, and confirm the exact model and what comes in the box.

Age, controls and charging

Check the manufacturer’s age guidance, controls, battery and charging requirements. Consider supervision, spare parts and the space needed to use the product as intended.

Before flying a drone

Check current CAA requirements for the exact drone’s weight, class, camera, operator and intended location. Registration, IDs and flying restrictions vary; a product described as a toy is not automatically exempt.

Before you order.

Can you help me compare models?

Tell our team about your budget, intended use, available space and any age or size requirements. Bring model numbers if you have a shortlist.

Are accessories and assembly included?

Check the exact product listing for contents, compatible accessories and assembly requirements. Ask us to clarify any delivery or service requirements before ordering.

Where should I check the current scooter and drone rules?

Use the official Northern Ireland guidance for e-scooters and the CAA Drone Code for drones. Check again before using the equipment, as requirements can change.

Useful official guidance.

Department for Infrastructure: e-scooters in Northern Ireland
PSNI: private-land use and current e-scooter requirements (May 2026 report)
CAA: the Drone Code
CAA: what you need to fly legally

Follow the instructions for the exact product you choose. Confirm current specifications, availability and requirements separately.
