TV & Entertainment / Buying guide

A little help choosing

TV & Entertainment.
Chosen around your home.

Start with your room, your favourite programmes and the way you listen. Compare the useful details, then explore the range or ask our Kilkeel team for practical advice.

Televisions

Start with your room and the way you watch.

Measure the whole setup

Check the product width, height and depth with its stand, rather than choosing by screen size alone. Measure your furniture, stand-foot positions and space around the screen, and consider delivery access.

Compare the features you will use

Think about films, sport, everyday programmes or gaming. Compare the exact model specifications for picture features, connections and supported apps, rather than assuming that every smart TV has the same features.

Check sound and connections

List your console, receiver, disc player and any existing sound equipment. Check the ports and supported features on both devices. For a soundbar, check whether the TV and bar have compatible ARC/eARC or optical connections.

Audio

Choose around what you listen to.

Soundbars and television sound

Measure the space below your screen and check that a soundbar will not obstruct it. Compare the TV and soundbar connections, included speakers and the space needed for any subwoofer. Surround features depend on the exact equipment and source.

Headphones and hi-fi

For headphones, compare fit, controls, connection type and the stated battery conditions. For a hi-fi system, check your music sources, speaker arrangement, inputs and room dimensions.

Portable music and radio

Check the supported radio or streaming options, power supply and whether any battery is included. Think about how you will use it around the house and which devices you want to connect.

DVD, Blu-ray & digital TV

Keep your existing equipment in mind.

Disc players

Check the formats supported by the exact player and the discs you own. DVD, Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray support should be confirmed in its specifications, alongside the connection to your television.

Digital receivers and recording

Check the reception and connection requirements for the exact receiver. If recording matters, confirm that the model supports it, what storage is included and any limits on simultaneous viewing or recording.

A complete system

List the devices you want to connect and the ports on each one. Have their model numbers ready when asking our team for help with a compatible player, receiver or home-cinema setup.

TV accessories

The right fit is in the details.

Stands and brackets

Check your TV weight, the stand or bracket limits, the fixing pattern and the TV installation instructions. Wall mounting also depends on the wall, fixings, screw requirements and suitable installation; matching the screen size alone is not enough.

Cables, aerials and remotes

Check the connections and exact equipment model before ordering. Similar-looking plugs or remote controls do not confirm compatibility. Aerial suitability also depends on the setup and reception conditions.

Screen care

Follow the exact device manufacturer cleaning instructions and use suitable materials. Ask our team about current accessory availability if you cannot find what you need.

Which size television should I choose?

Start with the room, furniture and where you sit. Measure the television with its stand and check its weight and mounting requirements. A showroom comparison and your room measurements can help you narrow the choices.

Will a soundbar work with my television?

Check the model numbers and available connections on both products. ARC/eARC, optical, wireless features and supported audio formats vary by model. Ask us if you would like help checking a particular pairing.

Are cables and accessories included?

Check the exact product specification and the contents of the box. Cables, mounting hardware, batteries and extra speakers may be sold separately.

Can you help with an existing setup?

Have the model numbers and a note of the connections you use ready when you contact us. That gives our team a useful starting point for checking suitable options and current availability.

Useful manufacturer guidance.

Always check the instructions for the exact model. These manufacturer pages provide further detail on common connection and mounting questions.
